Animating student models and drawings

Andrea has been working with her highschool art students on creating plasticine models and pencil crayon drawings of species from the SARA database. The students get to know wildlife species who live or lived in their local environment, and create relationship and connection through this creative process.

Some of the models have been 3d scanned and printed so that the students can paint directly on the models. Andrea also has been working with the 3d scanned models in Blender, mapping the student’s texture drawings onto the models.

Black-footed ferret drawing by Daïla Ayala Keovongsy and plasticine model by Amadou Gabriel El Hadj.

Next, Andrea will be animating the models and testing them out with both augmented reality, and what Spoonful is calling “augmented animal reality”, to be explored at our upcoming residency at PHI. Stay spooned!
